Replicability as the route for the Refinal European implementation

The last and main objective of Bauxal project is being able to reduce the European raw materials dependency that the refractory materials manufacturers suffer. Currently, this industry, obligated to the totally import, is affected because of the local restrictions more and more frequent.

By the objective of reducing this dependency and minimizing the impact on the European economy, Befesa is focusing its efforts in replicate the results, obtained nationally, with materials of its different plants located in the continent. For this reason, the Germany plants are playing a very important role.

Befesa annually manufactures 360.000 tons of secondary aluminium oxide in different grades. This added to the strategic location of the company, gives us the potential capacity of nearly supplying the 60% of the European demand. The different origin secondary aluminium oxide presents some distinctive features which force to a detailed study during the development of the project. The refining prototype is very well prepared for that objective and, presently, it is on phase of execution.
