Refinal production

The start of the Refinal production task in October 2020 meant the starting point of the bauxite alternative raw materials manufacturing on the development of new refractory materials.

During this period, a total of 700 t of Refinal, from different kind of materials depending on its origin country, will be produced. On the one hand, we will obtain 500 t from Paval, aluminium secondary oxide produced in Spain, and on the other hand, we will also obtain 200 t of EU-Refinal from Serox, secondary aluminium oxide produced in the valorisation of salt slags that Befesa does in Germany.

The main goal is to obtain the replicability of the Paval refining process in order to be able to extend it to Befesa´s European salt slag treatment plants. Therefore we would be able to supply in a large extend the demand of the European market.
